Scrap the Girls - February Challenge

I hadn't participated in the Scrap The Girls challenge till - now!!

See the beautiful mood board -

and this is what I created...

Started with a sheet of Kaisercraft 'Green Apple' (CD164) and swiped some Faber Castell 'Glass bead glitter gel' through a Prima elements 'Harlequin' stencil and dry! Sprayed Heidi Swapp 'Citron and Seafoam' through a mask (Unknown?)  Randomly swiped Croco 008 and dry! Spritzed the Imaginarium Chipboard frames and heat embossed the Prima Wood frames (various powders inc Stampendous and Stampin' Up!) Inka gold in Jade was rubbed across the Scrapmatts arrow - clusters of My2Angels flowers and sugar beads (love them!) and a few bits and pieces I found along the way...including a K and company 'metal ring' and a button from a shirt a bought that day!!

This outfit was a gift when Katelyn was born... it took her a few months to fit into it - so cute!

Blue Fern Studios - February challenge

I LOVE Blue Fern Studios!!

...and when I saw the Sketch for this month...

 I created this...

When I visited Scrap Elegance (when Kylie Obst came to Queensland to teach...and climb stairs!!) I saw that Tenisha had the beautiful Blue Fern Studios 'Ombre Dreams' paper range... when I saw Susan's dream with the blues and yellows I had to have it! I already had the BFS 'Olga's Balloon' chipboard which was altered with Stampendous and Lindy's Stamp Gang embossing powders.
I trimmed a couple of strips of paper doily and adhered them across the paper, along with various ribbon, lace and trim. I mixed together a little Whipped Spackle and Gelato 'Buttercream'

and swiped this through a Heidi Swapp stencil. Applied some Finnabair 'Clear Gesso' and some white Gesso over the background. The Faber Castell 'Glass Bead Glitter Gel' was swiped through a Prima stencil... and dry! Well, almost dry (no patience!) a spritz of Tattered Angels 'Banana Pudding' and Dylusions 'White Linen' here and there... and also on the My2angels 'scallop felt frame' and some random acrylic pieces (and with some Adirondack alcohol inks)
The embellishing - the tickets are Pink Paislee 'Hope Chest'....there is Manor House Creations flowers and frame...Prima wood pieces...Maya Road 'star pins'....My2angels 'Sugar Beads in blue' and 'Circle rhinestone'...couple of white enamel charms from Sharon...a Martha Stewart ribbon bow...and a couple of yellow safety pins and dragonfly brads....finishing with a sprinkle of Stampin' Up! enamel dots!!
This photo of Katelyn in a Bevis family heirloom dress is one of my favourite (her Aunty also wore this dress!)

Scrap Around the World - February challenge

Did you see the Scrap Around the World 'Inspiration board' for February?

My favourite colour... Green!!

...and this is what I created -

Starting with a piece of cream cardstock (Kaisercraft) I sprayed Heidi Swapp 'Seafoam and Citron' and 'stamped' the mask into my journal (to be finished?) More spraying with the Kaszazz 'hessian' and then Viva Croco through Balzer Designs 'Cursive' and left to crack!
The chipboard Heart (unknown) was heat embossed with a combination of Stampendous, Stampin' Up! and Lindy's Stamp Gang powders and then adhered to the page. The Dusty Attic title and other cipcoard were also heat embossed with a mixture - secret recipe ;) lol
Thickers made up the remaining title and some clusters were created with Manor House Creations flowers, a resin frame, butterfly and key charm from my friend Sharon. The edges were swiped with Inka Gold in 'Jade'. Then just a few spots of Perfect Pearls and Kindyglitz!

Our Emily was such a cheeky girl to photograph!! This was her Easter dress!!

Dusty Attic - February challenge

The Dusty Attic challenge for February is -

Such beautiful shades, so this is what I did -

My favourite people... EVER! My Grandparents - my Mum's Mum and Dad.

While I was looking at the 12x12 packet of Dusty Attic "de Vine frame' I couldn't help but feel it was such a waste to simply discard the 'outer' edge... so I used it - misting, staining, crackling and rubbing it with Inka Gold! The cardstock was misted with Tim Holtz Distress spray 'Antique Bronze', 'Seedless Preserve' and Memories Mist in 'Red' and 'Ameretto' - water was added, wait a sec then paper towel to 'remove' some colour. Aunty Sandra returned from the US with an American Crafts 'Embossed paper pad', I misted it and adhered it behind the photo and with the smaller Dusty Attic frame over a piece of Burlap Paper. Viva Croco in copper was smeared through a leafy stencil (old!) - to finish a cluster of Manor House Creations, Kaisercraft and some 'Op Shop bonus' flowers, & Doiley! Chipboard title was stained and rubbed with Inka Gold.

New challenge... KRAFT +

Kraft + is a NEW challenge site!!

Starting with a KRAFT base and this inspiration picture...

This is what I did...

Of course, I started with a piece of KRAFT cardstock... which happened to have a glossy script (bonus!) I spritzed a bit here and there over a "Cake decorator stencil from IKEA" with Lindys stamp gang, Glimmermist and Heidi Swapp to bring out the gloss and also onto the Finnabair Elementals 'Resist canvas'  - the Prima 'Romance Novel' was fussy cut and adhered over a piece of diecut paper. I had recently purchased some chipboard by 'Your Creative Wings' from Daisy Chain which was randomly heat embossed with Lindy's Stamp Gang powders. The title is from an assorted pack by Blue fern Studios, also Heat embossed! The finishing touches were the Manor House Creations flowers, Maya Road 'Star pins', the Funky Flair Studios 'flair', Prima 'zipper'....and of course, the photo of ME, as a young child - yes, My Mum insisted I learn to play the piano!!

Scrapping Outback - February challenge

Did you see the beautiful 'cocktail' which is the inspiration for Scrapping Outback's challenge this month?

Unusual? Yes!! So I went searching for some of these colours...

When I was searching for an appropriate photo, I found Nana and Dar sitting on THIS lounge! Perfect for this months colours!

I'd recently purchased a 12x12 Memory Maze chipboard pack with some corners flourishes - this is the largest! - I heat embossed, randomly, browns & golds (and gave it a bit of a smudge with Gelatos) the background was covered with builders mesh and then misted with Tim Holtz Distress Stain, Lindy's Stamp Gang and Tattered Angels Chalkboard 'Banana Pudding' - smeared a couple of patches of Prima Art Basics Platinum Crackle.... then dry! When it almost dry, I added some Gelatos in Yellows and Gold! I found the offcut of a Manor House Creations Frame and tucked it behind the photo before embellishing with some flowers (the OLD Prima ones were perfect 'yellow & Brown'!) a twist of cotton, a snip of crochet doiley and a Scrapmatts 'Love' chipboard (heat embossed in dark brown) finished the layout!!

White with 1 - February challenge

The White with 1 challenge this month uses

[ww1%2520celosia%2520orange.jpg]

and this is what I did...

It makes it easy if you start with a beautiful photo! Our lovely friends, Mark and Kahmala, were married in Bali a few years ago... they must almost have a full album now ;)

I started with white cardstock, which I adhered scrunched orange tissue randomly - I then used Dreamweaver Stencils "Embossing paste" over a Dylusions 9x12" stencil 'Shattered Glass' and left to dry! The 2 Crafty 'Circular Leafy frame' was heat embossed with Stampin' Up! 'Tangerine Tango' & Viva 'Croco' randomly smudged and then adhered over the paper layers (inc Prima 'ATC card and photo! I trimmed the Manor House Creations 'frame' and tucked it under the edges - The title was heat embossed in white, before being clipped up with 2 orange pegs! Some beaded trim, Kaisercraft paper blooms, Maya Road 'camera' - I won some Funky Flairs Studio 'Flairs' which fitted perfectly as the 'lens' and my friend, Gwen Wruck handmade a bunch of those cute felt bows - of course, I needed a packet!

Kaisercraft - Tuesday tip!!

Today, I'm on the Kaisercraft blog with my Tuesday Tip!

Sometimes we just need quick, clean and simple Cards... Embossing Folders offer a perfect solution for those times when we need stylish and effective!

Did you know that Kaisercraft has released their own Embossing Folders?

TT embossing folders

I received Honeycomb, Weave and Damask in my DT box of products - and love each of them for different reasons (as you can see from my already 'loved' ones!!) So many different techniques can be done with Embossing Folders, so here is just a small sample of ideas...

TT EF Cards

What did I do with the HONEYCOMB (EF 203) Embossing Folder?

TT EF Cards 1

Top Left (Yellow) - spritz a couple of shades of mists onto the folder and run through your machine.
Top Right (Peach) - emboss the cardstock and then lightly sand the pattern.
Bottom (Blue) - emboss the corrugated card

How elegant is the Weave folder (EF200)

TT EF Cards 3

Top left (Peach) - mist the cardstock before embossing (Weave) and run an inkpad across the pattern (Damask)
Top right (Kraft) - Emboss Vellum and then roughly add Gesso to the surface.
Bottom - Ink the folder and emboss a piece of corrugated card

I think my favourite (at the moment) is Damask (EF205)

TT EF Cards 2

Top Left (pink) - lightly mist with water the folder, then add a couple of drops of re-inker before embossing the cardstock.
Top right (Brown) - emboss a piece of Vellum, then lightly use an inkpad to highlight the raised surface.
Bottom - cover a piece of cardstock with 'metal foil tape' and emboss (this also looks beautiful with alcohol inks to colour the foil... but that's for another day!)

You'll have to wait till March to see how I've incorporated the Embossing Folders into some other projects.... Layouts? Tags? Art journaling?

Enjoy, Alison x

ps, EVERYTHING on these cards is Kaisercraft, some OLD (like the Silk Flowers & Crochet Doilies) and some NEW (like the 'Captured Moments' cards, 'Photo Overlays' and Epoxy stickers) - use your stash!
